What is Botox Cosmetic?
Botox is a drug made from botulinum toxin, which is a naturally purified protein. It is used medically by dentists to treat certain muscular conditions and to cosmetically remove wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing the muscles. It administered via a few tiny injections; it is a simple and quick, minimally invasive treatment that delivers dramatic results with no downtime.
Botox Cosmetic is the only approved treatment that improves the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet lines in adults.
Botox for TMJ
Botox Therapy can be used to treat neuromuscular disorders that produce involuntary muscle contractions, or spasms that affect the muscles that control movement in the eyes, neck, and face. TMJ syndrome occurs when this joint becomes overworked due to excessive teeth grinding or clenching of the teeth, and may result in tension headaches, jaw clicking, or extreme pain in the jaw. Botox Therapy can provide relief to those suffering TMJ issues, excessive teeth grinding and teeth clenching. Botox Therapy is ideally used when TMJ issues are not solved using other methods versus using drugs for pain relief.

What is Botox Made of?
Botox Cosmetic is a natural purified protein that relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles, creating a smoothed and improved appearance.
Can Botox be used for more than just Cosmetic Purposes?
Yes! Dr. Alissa Khartchenko also uses Botox Cosmetic to treat Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) and a group of conditions involving the temporomandibular jaw joint (TMJ). This is often referred to as Botox Therapy.
Botox for Migraines
Botox Therapy can also be used to help those suffering from Migraines. Botox is directly injected into specific trigger points. This causes the muscles in the face, neck, and head to relax which can significantly reduce the frequency and severity of migraines.
How Does Botox Cosmetic Work?
Botox Cosmetic targets the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet. Over the years, your repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting have caused the lines. Dr. Khartchenko will inject these muscles with Botox Cosmetic, which temporarily reduces muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your crow’s feet lines and the frown lines between your brows.
